The products on this website are not shown to actual size some products may appear larger or smaller than the actual size due to screen defaults and/or photo techniques. Your attention is drawn to the descriptive text detail where given.

Hallmarking

All items will be hallmarked in the UK to show the fineness of the metal used and will have the Michael Birnie makers mark included.

Ring Sizing

When purchasing a ring in platinum or 18ct gold if the size is not known we recommend that the stock ring is taken, this will be an average size. If this does not fit it can be returned and ring sizers will be sent out to take an accurate sizing. The sizing must be done on a Michael Birnie ring size gauge to be accurate. We do not accept responsibility for the ring size unless it has been taken with a Michael Birnie ring gauge. Other jewellers may use different gauges therefore we do not recommend having a ring size taken at another jewellers and using this measurement. If you are in any doubt we recommend the stock ring is taken in the initial purchase.

We regret that we will be unable to give a refund if an item is made to a specific size which has not been measured with the Michael Birnie ring gauge. If an incorrect size is ordered and does not fit, Michael Birnie will always try to correct this mistake if it is possible. There will be a charge for this work.

On- going services - Cleaning and Refurbishment

All items of jewellery require cleaning re-finishing and refurbishment from time to time. Rings experience heavy wear and tare through contact with keys, money, gym equipment dog leads etc and benefit from cleaning diamond setting check and refurbishment every year. This service is offered by Michael Birnie prices on application according to ring size and design.

Payment  can  be  made  through  our secure  online  site  or  over  the telephone  if  preferred  by phoning   01284760400.

Delivery

Items will be dispatched once payment is approved and will be sent as follows

UK       Special delivery charge £6.50 -  your purchase is insured and guaranteed next day delivery with the exception of Fridays which are guaranteed Monday delivery.  A signature will be required on delivery.

Europe   International signed for £10.00 four to seven days delivery

USA        Airsure £15 four to seven days delivery

All orders are packaged in the exclusive Michael Birnie boxes and can be gift wrapped if requested.

Returns

A full refund will be given for any stock item purchased from the site provided the buyer contacts Michael Birnie at customerservices@michaelbirnie.com or  by phone 01284 760400 within seven working days of date of receipt to receive a returns reference number and packaging and posting instructions.

All returned items must be undamaged, unworn, and in the original packaging with the returns reference number stated on the external packaging.

Should you receive an item which has been damaged in transit you must inform us within fortyeight hours of receiving the order.

All returns must be sent by special delivery insurance and postage is the responsibility of the sender.

No refunds can be given on items made to specific size.

No refunds can be given on bespoke custom made items.

Privacy of personal data

Personal data entered on the site e.g. your name, your address, email  or postal address cannot be accessed by anyone except for customer services at Michael Birnie.

The hosting of the site and payment provider companies also ensure the security of personal data.

When accessing the site non personal information is automatically generated which allows us to monitor the site in terms of number of visitors length of time spent on each page etc.  This information is not processed any further and is not passed on to a third party.
